VCI training is grounded in the educational philosophy of Integrated Leadership Development (ILD) which seeks to develop the whole person spiritually, physically, intellectually, emotionally, and socially, while also cultivating analytical thinking. Students engage in academic study alongside practical ministry assignments within their local churches.
The competencies within each program are intentionally designed to equip students for effective ministry leadership. To demonstrate ministry competency at a leadership level, all ministry assignments must be completed within an active ministerial context.
As a result, ministry formation is an integral component of every educational program. Through competency-based theological education, students develop practical ministry skills within the context of their local church and cultural setting. This process takes place under the guidance of the academic dean, ministry and spiritual formation director, cohort professors/lecturers, and unit professors/lecturers.
During the assessment process, the students are evaluated according to the learning outcomes and competencies of each specific competency unit (course).
