About Uganda

Uganda is a landlocked country in east-central Africa. About the size of Great Britain, Uganda is populated by dozens of ethnic groups. The English language and Christianity help unite these diverse peoples, who come together in the cosmopolitan capital of Kampala on the shores of Lake Victoria, Africa’s largest freshwater lake. The Swahili language unites the country with its East African neighbours Kenya and Tanzania.

Uganda embraces many ecosystems, from the tall volcanic mountains of the eastern and western frontiers to the densely forested swamps of the Albert Nile River and the rainforests of the country’s central plateau. The land is richly fertile, and Ugandan coffee has become both a mainstay of the agricultural economy and a favourite of connoisseurs around the world. Uganda is famous for its mountain gorillas and tourism is growing.

Training

Partnering with churches

Veritas first started training in Uganda in February 2004 and 12,737 modules have been trained since inception.

Veritas partners with the Pentecostal Assemblies of God (PAG) with the aim of training 10,000 leaders and pastors in Uganda. PAG started in 1914 and today represents 1,6 million members in 5,000 churches. Only 10% of those 5,000 pastors have received formal theological education. Veritas training interventions took place in November 2021, May 2022 and March 2023. Module 1 is part of Veritas Integrated Leadership Programme that assists participants to understand, apply and preach the epistles in the New Testament and to integrate their skills in the Church. Module 2 focuses on the interpretation and application of the literature type for narrative which is mostly found in the Old Testament. By March 2023 1,000 pastors had completed Module 1 training, with some already started on Module 2.

Testimonies

"After we did the Module 1 training, we came up with the idea for a radio program. We broadcasted for two days over the weekend and talked through some of the Veritas training lessons. This led to a growth in our church. We are now known as the 'Church of the Word'."
