About Mozambique
Mozambique remains one of the poorest and most underdeveloped countries in the world, ranking low in GDP per capita, human development, measures of inequality and average life expectancy. This is partly due to ongoing periods of civil war between 1964 and 1992, when the first elections took place, causing massive displacement of people, and the effects of climate change today, which has seen cyclones wreaking havoc on agriculture and villages.
Mozambique today still struggles with insurgent uprisings, particularly in the north where Islamist groups are active. The most-spoken language is Portugese. According to 2018 estimates from the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom, 28% of the population is Catholic, 18% are Muslim (mostly Sunni), 15% are Zionist Christians, 12% are Protestants, 7% are members of other religious groups and 18% have no religion.
Training
About Veritas College Mozambique
VCI's work in Mozambique started in June 2007 when Riaan Terblanche trained a group from the Igreja
Reformada in Tete. Since then, Veritas has seen a huge uptake in training. 1712 new modules were trained in 2023/2024, which is the most modules trained to date!

We are grateful for our relationship with the Igredja Reformada in both the Mphatso and Tumbine
Sinods which has seen so many individuals equipped with God's word.
Material
VCI material is available in Portuguese, Chichewa and English. Most of our material is printed in Malawi and transported to Mozambique. VCI also provides Bibles for participants as not all students have their own copies of the Bible.

Challenges
Some challenges the VCI facilitators face include finding accommodation while we are training in remoter parts of the country, lack of internet availability in Mozambique and occasional opposition to the training.
Partner with us
Please keep us in your prayers as we work in Mozambique - pray for the safety of all our facilitators and learners, for travel mercies on roads that are mostly untarred and sometimes dangerous, for favour and open doors to share the gospel.
Pray for funding for training material and safe transport of the material to where it needs to go.
Thank God with us for such an eagerness to learn more about God's word.
