About Kenya
Kenya, officially the Republic of Kenya (Swahili: Jamhuri ya Kenya), is a country in East Africa. With a population of more than 47.6 million in the 2019 census, Kenya is listed as the 28th-most-populous country in the world and 7th most populous in Africa. Kenya's capital and largest city is Nairobi, while its oldest and second-largest city is the major port city of Mombasa, situated on Mombasa Island in the Indian Ocean and the surrounding mainland. Kenya is East Africa's regional transportation and financial hub and has a thriving economy across many sectors including agriculture and tourism.
Today Kenya has a very diverse population of an estimated 50+ million people, with more than 120 ethnic categories and 69 different languages. Kenya's two official languages (Swahili and English) are widely spoken, however in the rural areas people generally only speak their native languages.
About 85% of Kenyans profess to be Christian. Islam is the second largest religion (about 11% of the population). Indigenous beliefs are practised by 1% of the population, although many self-identifying Christians and Muslims maintain some traditional beliefs and customs.

Please keep our facilitators and students in prayer as they take the Gospel into the churches. Pray for safety, for travel and for the resources they need to fulfil this calling.
