Background

Martin Etter grew up in Pfäffikon, Switzerland. After completing vocational training in mechanical engineering, he moved to England where he married Julia, completed theological and linguistic training, served with Youth With A Mission and helped pioneer Veritas College. In 1998, the Etter family felt the calling to Malawi and moved to set up Veritas College in Malawi and began the work in Zambia two years later. They led the work until 2014 when the leadership passed on to Davidson Chifungo. Martin continues to serve as a trustee.

The Etters now serve with Veritas College in Sub-Saharan Africa to assist the church to develop a holistic approach to ministry and mission by integrating practical livelihood training with discipleship and biblical ministry training.

Martin and Julia are seconded by the Swiss Mission Fellowship (SMF) to Veritas College. SMF provides member care and administrative support for the Etters and enables financial support from Switzerland for Veritas College in Malawi and Zambia. Chrischona Pfäffikon (www.chrischona-pfaeffikon.ch) is the home church of the Etters.
